The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has opened a public comment period for 95 new steel and aluminum tariff inclusion requests, covering hundreds of HTS numbers. These requests, submitted by U.S. manufacturers, producers, and industry associations, aim to prevent foreign-made "derivative" products from undercutting the U.S. market. If approved, these requests would allow the government to impose additional tariffs, helping to ensure a level playing field.
The public comment period concludes on October 21st, after which BIS will have 60 days to review the requests and make their final decisions.
The inclusion requests on the docket, as well as the opportunity to comment, may be found at the following link: BIS DOCKET ID BIS-2025-0023
Please note that these potential additions have not yet been approved and may not be included in the final list. We wanted to provide you with the latest information and make you aware of these possibilities.
Official guidance on additions to the Section 232 Steel and Aluminum lists will be provided by the government once the comment period has closed and inclusions are finalized.
We will keep you updated.
